CPR & First Aid Courses

Target Group

All lay responders such as firefighters, police, commercial airline crews, security personnel, employees in the workplace, family members of patients at high risk for sudden death, and other laypersons wanting to learn first aid for adults.

Course Objectives

The Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED Course is intended primarily for those who are expected to provide CPR and first aid in their workplace.

The Course provides hands-on practice in the skills of first aid for adults in the workplace. It includes medical emergencies, injuries, environmental emergencies, CPR and choking for adults, children and infants, as well as the use of Automated External Defibrillators, (AED’s)

A Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED Student Workbook is provided to each participant for review before, during and after the Course. Two credit card-size Reminder Cards are included with the workbook displaying the simple steps for adult, child and infant CPR and AED use. It also provides information on the recognition of heart attacks and strokes.

A First Aid Quick Reference Guide is also included with the workbook covering choking, bad allergic reactions, heart attacks, diabetes and low blood sugar, strokes, seizures, shock, bleeding, penetrating objects, burns and electrical injuries.

Certification

An American Heart Association completion card is issued on successful completion which is valid for 2 years, as well as 7 CPD points for HPCSA registered candidates.
